USEFUL TIPS
Entry requirement: passport valid for another six months from
the date of arrival at Entebbee and with at least two clear
pages. It would be preferred a 10 years passport instead of a 5
years one renewed. Moreover it is necessary a tourist visa to
Uganda which can be purchased upon arrival at Entebbe
international airport ( USD 50).
Vaccination: Vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory.
Malaria prevention medications are also recommended. Please
consult your local doctor or health department for detailed and
updated advice.
Electricity: 220/240 volt.
Tipping: it is good habit to leave a tip in hotels, lodges
depending on your level of satisfaction. A typical guideline
would be $3 – $5 per day per person for your driver/guide. The
guide himself will hand over the tip to the porter.
Language: the official languages are Kiswahili and English, but Luganda is also currently spoken.
Clothing/ Baggage: Bring light casual and comfortable clothing, comfortable shoes for trekking, a hat for sun protection and
sunglasses. Long sleeve shirts and long trousers for evenings in order to protect yourself from insects. The excursion in Biwindi
Impenetrable Forest requires a warmer clothing for the night. We suggest to carry Small backpack for personal items. Many
lodges offer laundry service and they can keep the extra baggage.
Local Guide: Kenya and Tanzania inland has a very poor knowledge of the English language, therefore guides will focus only on
naturalistic and tourist aspects with an elementary language.
Please note: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda are countries blessed by wide spaces, snow-capped mountains, forests, lakes and
savannah which stretche as far as the eye can see. These landscapes, the crystal blue sea, the amazing density of wildlife will
be an unforgettable experience in your life, nevertheless you have to bear in mind that they are underdeveloped countries,
whose standards do not meet the European ones.Cultural differences can cause slight misunderstanding.
Transfer and safari: transfer will take place by little airplane or by land. The most of roads are unpaved roads and Some up
country roads can be very rough, bumpy or covered in mud, therefor it will be road conditions to dictate time to a destination
and not the distance to be covered. Yet these transfers allow to cross villages, markets and enjoy the landscape and the
coloured local population crawling the villages. All vehicles are equipped with radio in order to communicate with locale offices
and others vehicles. Drivers are well trained and they are responsible for time management: unforeseen can happen and this
could cause delays but not compromise the travel.
Hotels: since there is no international hotel classification, we suggest a classification ascribed by local in charge authorities. For
technical reasons each lodge could be replaced by another belonging to the same category.
